Career = Passion + Purpose (The Simplified Approach)

What if all
Work = Passion,
wont Work be nirvana?

Many students have a tough time figuring their majors in college, and many change
majors quite a number of times before settling forcefully(due to running out of time) on the dubious eventual one.
And many finally figured out what they truly want to do WAY AFTER they graduated, proceeding to
post education or graduate school. And even then, there is no guarantee they wont change their mind again!
So much wasted time, effort, mental energy and frustration!

Non college high school students who graduated into the workforce have even less time to figure it all out before engaging the 9 to 5 daily grind.

What if there is short cut module to all these, a simplified model, much like an app,  that one can simply figured out quickly within 1 hr,
what their passion and career path should be?

We have written on this topic numerous times in the past 12 years, since the birth of our 6 Steps to Happiness module, but

the steps were never  integrated and complied  in the Simplified sense, where one can perhaps click on an app, go through the steps within an hour, and figured it all out. There are some very well done websites and apps out there  in each topic of the various steps, but because there is no central website or app integrating them in one place, it is burdensome for a end user to go through the steps in an efficient or quick manner.
Thus, this will be our first article to try integrating all steps in one spot, to perhaps maybe create that eventual website or app.  This article will focus on the  Structure and Steps of this module, with future articles on the fine details and Simplification.

This will be a module that one can constantly come back to for revisions based on changed desire or life changes.
And a module that could be introduced as early as high school- around age 14-16- so to align their classes early with their desired career path.

The  Simplified Model-

Step 1 - First form a list of Passions- could be one or many.

Passion is defined as a task that brings joy and energy,  one would do even without income, something that wakes you up each morning, eager to do that task every single day, something you will never feel tried of doing.

Do not confuse hobbies with Passion- Passion is a much higher level of commitment.

Be as specific as possible. For eg, if your passion is teaching, what kind of teaching?  science? math? language?

Next, pick the strongest Passion from your list  as your Key Passion.

Step 2 - State your Purpose in life- could be a very serious, comprehensive, well thought out statement or a very casual statement since you have not figure it out yet.  But incorporate your Passion in your Purpose statement.

For eg. if your passion is teaching, then your Purpose  is  "i would like to open up my own academy to instill my own teaching methods"

Or casually since you have not thought about  it seriously  yet - "  i would like to teach all my life"

This one Purpose  statement is the MOST important statement -your whole life will now revolve around this one statement- from here on, you will focus your  time and energy on it and not waste your life away on nonsense or got sidetracked/distracted by other non-important nuances.

Also note that this statement could be changed in the future as Passion changes or life circumstance adjusts.

Step 3. Personality Test- we will adopt the Myers/Briggs model as it is most widely used with the most research done, with most on-going support and most collaborated by the community.   Take the long version on any Myer Briggs website or our idu short version of merely 4 qns :

https://idu1.blogspot.com/2019/03/how-to-work-with-anyone-distinguishing.html

Your Personality Code is now 4 letters. for eg ISFJ

This Personality Code allows u not only to figure out your best career choice but also reveal the personalities  you are  attracted to or  dispel   in various  life relationships as in career, love, friendship, family, teamwork.  It also reveal the Personality you need to become to be successful in your Passion.

Step 4- Take a IQ test and EQ test (emotional intelligence)

and note down your scores, strengths and weakness
Key issues  are -are u left brain or rigiht brain strong/weak ?
is your iq score  adequate or need improvement?

Key issue in EQ is - do u have strong enough  EQ skils for BOTH self help and working with others?  Or are you strong in one but  not the other?
And how does EQ connect with our  15 traits of Success article
https://iduidu.blogspot.com/2017/12/teaching-success-in-60-days-simplified.html

Step 5 Based on results from step 3 and 4,   the module in step 5  will spit out  a Report for  your best career paths. There should be a list of best careers that fit your Personality Code, IQ and EQ level.

Does any one of the career path matches  your Passion in Step 1?
If so, you are on the right track!  Proceed to Step 7.
If not, proceed to Step 6

Step 6- Now you know the truth that your passion may not fit you, do you want to revise your passion from step 1 based on the Report in step 5?

But dont give up yet! Do you love your Passion so much that you are willing to persist through thick and thin?
If you choose persistence,  you will then proceed to the Training stage to overcome  your weaknesses and add new necessary strengths. Are you willing to go through these training?  Or would you change your Passion instead?
If you still insist on your passion, you are Ready to be trained.

Proceed to the training modules suggested in your step 5 Report .- IQ and "EQ in conjunction with your Personality Code"
What must u change/improve (need simple alogarithm ) in your Personality and Mind (eq and iq) to get there?
What to work on based on your current personality Code or to work on your Desired Personality Code.
What are your Final Self-desired personality and Mind elements(iq/eq) - compare your Current state vs Desired state.
What are the exercises you must go through to achieve each element?

Step 7   You have now finished aligning your Career with your Passion and Purpose!
This will save you tons of time going forward.
You may still want to go through future training to further bolster your strength and eliminate those weaknesses, so to bolster your success rate.

And remember, one can always revisit these 7 steps when life circumstance or Passion changes.

If you have more than one passion, eliminate the weak ones or ones that lack true fervor.
And when you have tine, toughen up that Purpose statement- making your purpose realistic and concise, not vague or
too ridiculously ambitious.(one can always adjust the Purpose statement gradually).
And if your career turn out not to be your Passion based on life circumstances such as income necessity,
remember - one can always work on paid jobs part time while working slowly toward your passion in your spare time.
