Teaching Success in 60 days ??! Part 4 : "How to talk with Anyone"

Chatterbox.

Most annoying.

Or most celebrated?

I could never forget those chatterboxes in my secondary school days  who chatted  gibberish  all day, non stop to almost anyone.
Part of me found it really annoying.  Part of me truly envied them. 
I mean who wont?   
Being able to chat with anyone on anything at any spur of a moment.
Even to a stranger.
That is a skill one could only dream of as a kid. 
Being able to make friends easily and talk spontaneously with anyone you fancy.

A few days after we published 

"Teaching Success in 60 days ??! Part 3 : Simplify App for each of 15 Traits" 

on November 1st 2021,  an interesting discovery happened.   

I came across this app ad  promoting the class:


" How to Talk with Anyone" that i wished i would  come across a few days earlier.

And thus this article.

"How to Talk with Anyone" 

This seems to be a much more appealing theme or class to kids and adults of all ages than achieving Success.

But does it also cover the whole spectrum of self help that the 15 Traits of Success clearly does.

After some thoughtful analysis, it interestingly does cover all 15 Traits.

We will go through each of same 15 Traits related  to "How to talk with Anyone" in this article 


But first, let's  frame the context.
Let's assume you are in a public place, such as a restaurant, and you want to talk with a stranger you see
sitting alone across  some tables away. 
And we will give ourselves 2 chances to succeed.  
One perhaps to break the ice and  if failed, the second attempt to strike a meaningful conversation.  

So what do we break the ice with- what question is effective for that?  
There are tons of these research out there but after narrowing down the sincere ones,  we think the following approach works best.


The question  goes  like this: 
"I am sorry to interrupt,  are you a dentist ? 
Ahh..... you are not ? Sorry i guessed wrong. You sure look like one. I just read  a   "16 Personality Matrix" article  so i am practicing the concept,  guessing people's  occupation based on Personality and appearance. Ha!  I guess I have not mastered it yet. There is another related  article  that teaches how to figure out a stranger's  personality in a matter  of seconds.by  looking at  how one walks, talks, moves etc.  It is truly an amazing article..  So anyway, what do you do for a living?"

Sound corny or insincere?  Not one bit.

We first published "How to Work with ANYONE- distinguishing Personality Types in minutes!"   in 2019.
So for those interested  in this very exciting topic that allows you to easily strike a casual  conversation with anyone, do read the article.

Guessing occupation is an interesting way to strike a conversation.  If you strike a chord, and they are in the mood, go on to explain the intricacy of the personality article.

If you get.a  quick cold response, you quickly shy away, wait 20 minutes, and get ready for round two -  the second attempt.

And the best second attempt without getting some  nasty stares is  to perhaps  invite them to read the article "How to Work with ANYONE- distinguishing Personality Types in minutes! " via email by presenting them an invite card  with a catchy irresistible slogan "How to Talk with Anyone instantly".  Say something like  "Try it!  i think you will like it"

The above  is our thinking  on the 2 attempts.  But i am sure there are many other equally effective 2  attempts
 and thus this article- to structure a class easily taught  that centered on the 2 attempts,  that actually cover the grounds of the 15 traits of Success.


Lets go through the 15 Traits here on how each Trait relates to  "How to talk with Anyone".

Yes, one must be logical and analytical to come up with good techniques on  to break the ice and keep the conversation flowing.

One needs extreme focus to execute the encounter for the window of opportunity  is short .

One should strive to continue improve on your technique - better ways, better approaches.

Be accountable  to your self - practice everyday, meet one new person each day, never be absent.

7. committed=NEVER GIVE UP  --  
Never give up after the first cold response. Keep trying

8. Versatile = RESILIENT
Be versatile after a cold first attempt- keep your thinking engine revving even faster upon failure, and more motivated- zero slack or let down



9. modest== CAUTIOUS/NEVER COMPLACENT

Never be arrogant or complacent if the first attempt is successful.  Keep the conversation going.  Never  assume a relationship is already solid in the pockets



10. Communicator/Networker = WARM & INDISPENSABLE

always be warm, nice and listen well.  Offer good suggestions and ideas to assure long term relationships.



11. Malleable with Everyone=EVERYONE AS FAMILY
Get to know the other person fully, all the little details.
Understand everything about them, get to know their personality and strike a rapport


12. Big hearted- 
WISH THE BEST OF OTHERS AT ALL TIMES 

Help them in any way possible. Call upon your network
This goes miles beyond any meaningful conversation

14. Detached =CALM/UNEMOTIONAL


Dont  be nervous, have fun,  stay calm at all times, keep conversation flowing smoothly



15. Courage &  being Assertive=BE ASSERTIVE 

Be bold, be assertive at the right moment.
If rejected first round, stay bold and assertive on the second attempt.

As you can see, this appealing class for all ages does cover all 15 Traits for Success.  
Thus, we strongly suggest a curriculum on "How to Talk with Anyone" ,  not just for high school,  but for all ages.
